Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin lamented his team's lack of finish during last night's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

The Detroit Red Wings failed to get the job done in a critical divisional matchup at Little Caesars Arena on Friday night.

The Montreal Canadiens earned a 4-3 win thanks to a late power play goal from Patrik Laine, ironically his 7th power play goal of the season.

They also scored shorthanded, a 1st period goal from Jake Evans.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings failed to convert on four separate power play opportunities of their own.

Captain Dylan Larkin was clearly disappointed afterward, lamenting the lack of finish by himself and his teammates not only on the man advantage but late in the 3rd period.

We had chances but we didn't keep enough (pucks) out, and they get the power play in the third and score and we get ours and we don't.

It would have been real nice to score on that one (late in the period) and tie the game up and get it into overtime and score another one.

Captain Dylan Larkin is in a slump

There have been multiple scoring slumps by Red Wings forwards this year, including both J.T. Compher and Andrew Copp along with Michael Rasmussen and Joe Veleno.

But the normally reliable Red Wings captain hasn't scored since November 25, a span of 11 games.

He does have 12 goals so far this year, but the Red Wings need him to pick up the slack offensively if they're to get back in the thick of the postseason race.
