The Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens are two of the most historic clubs in the NHL, and they've gotten together for their latest matchup at Little Caesars Arena on Friday night.
Defenseman Moritz Seider already has himself the highlight of the night thanks to his incredible defensive play, preventing Canadiens forward Jake Evans from a certain goal that would have given the Habs a 2-0 lead.
With goaltender Cam Talbot sprawled out of position, Seider managed to get his stick on Evans' shot attempt at the side of the net, deflecting it wide.
The place prevented Montreal from taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st period; Emil Heineman had already scored for the Habs on a shot that went right through the five-hole of Talbot.
Detroit and Montreal are tied at 2-2 after 20 minutes of play; Patrick Kane's seeing-eye shot beat goaltender Sam Montembeault from a sharp angle to tie the game, while Evans eventually did get his goal while shorthanded, breaking in alone on Talbot and beating him with a backhand-forehand deke.
The Red Wings broke even thanks to a point shot from Jeff Petry that deflected off Joe Veleno and past Montembeault.
