According to the latest reports, the Penguins and maligned GM Kyle Dubas could soon be unloading players - should the Red Wings be interested?

It could very well be the end of the road for the Pittsbrugh Penguins before long, but could the Detroit Red Wings take advantage of their former rival?

Recent reports indicate that the Penguins could soon be on the verge of a firesale involving everyone on the team except a selected few untouchables.

RG.org has put forth that Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas is indicating to the rest of the NHL that the majority of his roster will be up for grabs for the right price in the days and weeks leading up to the March 7 Trade Deadline.

An NHL source close to the situation has confirmed to RG that everyone on the current roster - except captain Sidney Crosby, longtime alternate captain Evgeni Malkin, veteran forward Bryan Rust, forward Philip Tomasino, and defenseman Owen Pickering - is available for the right price before the March 7 NHL Trade Deadline.

"Sid, Malkin, Rust, and the two kids, Tomasino and Pickering, they're off limits for now, but everything else can be had for the right price,» the source said.

When asked to clarify that longtime Penguins defenseman Kris Letang wasn't on that list, the source replied:

«I don't know right now.»

Defensemen like Marcus Pettersson, who is a pending free agent, could be had for the right price and could be an upgrade for Detroit over the likes of Justin Holl and Jeff Petry.

Additionally, Matt Grzelcyk could stand for a change of scenery; he has an offensive upswing with 23 assists.
