There was a notable absence at practice for the Detroit Red Wings this morning, and the latest status update on his condition wasn't very encouraging.
Defenseman Simon Edvinsson, who was hurt during Wednesday night's win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Little Caesars Arena and didn't return, wasn't able to practice and won't be available for tonight's game against the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
Albert Johansson slots back into the lineup for the injured Edvinsson, while Vladimir Tarasenko continues his stay on the top line alongside Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond.
Per MLive's Ansar Khan, the line combinations for tonight's game are as follows:
Tarasenko - Larkin - Raymond
DeBrincat - Copp - Kane
Rasmussen - Compher - Motte
Veleno - Kasper - Fischer
Chiarot - Seider
Holl - Petry
Johansson - Gustafsson
The power play units:
1. Compher (net front), Larkin (bumper), Raymond-Kasper (flanks), Seider (point).
2. Copp/Rasmussen (alternating net front), DeBrincat (bumper), Tarasenko-Kane (flanks), Gustafsson (point).
After practice, Derek Lalonde said that Edvinsson's absence coach from the lineup opens the door for other players to step up.
