Red Wings' Todd McLellan Calls For Steve Yzerman to Get Active at the NHL Trade Deadline

Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan looks ahead to the Trade Deadline, which falls this Friday afternoon and whether he thinks GM Steve Yzerman will make a move.
The Detroit Red Wings are shorthanded, having lost Andrew Copp for the rest of the year after pectoral surgery and Michael Rasmussen to a concussion after a dirty blind-side hit; he's missed the last handful of games but isn't expected to miss significant time.
In the meantime, the Trade Deadline is quickly approaching (Friday afternoon, 3:00 PM), and all eyes are on GM Steve Yzerman to see whether he'll be making an addition to the team for the 1st time in years at the Deadline rather than selling or standing pat.
Does Red Wings coach Todd McLellan think that Yzerman will be active in making additions to help supplement for the loss of Copp?
I know that he believes in this group and that he wants to do whatever he can to help this group. But the players that put the jerseys on have to get the job done. We aren't sitting in the coaches room; the players shouldn't be sitting in the locker room, thinking that the cavalry is coming. They've clearly shown to each other that they have the ability to win some games and string things out. A lot of things have to go right - they have to play well. But we have a lot of tools in that locker room right now.
It remains to be seen whether Yzerman will in fact make a move to help his team make a push toward the postseason for the 1st time since 2016.
There have been a handful of players linked to them, including Dylan Cozens of the divisional foe Buffalo Sabres along with Scott Laughton of the Philadelphia Flyers.
