The Detroit Red Wings defeated the divisional foe Florida Panthers on Thursday night, bouncing back from a frustrating 6-3 loss to the Sharks earlier in the week.

The Detroit Red Wings had to bounce back after having their 7-game winning streak halted by the lowly San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night.

While kicking off a 4-game road trip that began against the divisional foe and defending Stanely Cup champion Florida Panthers, they did just that.

The Red Wings defeated the Panthers 5-2 on the back of 41 saves from goaltender Cam Talbot as well as a pair of goals from Dylan Larkin.

The Red Wings' power play remained scorching hot, going 3-for-4.

Coach Todd McLellan, who challenged the Red Wings to be better after their frustrating loss to the Sharks, described Thursday's win as "terrific" in the fact of a difficult task.

It's very well connected, we use that word in the coaching world. It's confident, has a real sense of attack points and when it's not going good, one of the most impressive things is how they go get pucks back. They don't get lazy and drop their heads and give up. They keep hunting.

The win was terrific for our group after what we had against San Jose. The task was very difficult. That was evident they are the champs for a reason. We needed outstanding goaltending and a special team to get hot and we found a way to scrap our way to a win. It wasn't pretty, but it's a good learning experience for our group and sometimes it's easier to learn when you win than when you lose.

McLellan has brought new accountability and responsibility to the Red Wings that was lacking under former head coach Derek Lalonde, and it's shown by the team winning 8 of 10 games since he took over.
