New Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan has lead the club to 3 straight wins, and he has the perfect word to describe what he's seeing from his players.

The Detroit Red Wings picked up a 5-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena after Jonatan Berggren scored on a breakaway out of the penalty box with 35 seconds left in the 3rd period.

According to coach Todd McLellan, the Red Wings are now playing a more aggressive brand of hockey.

We're asking our team to be aggressive. We're coming to play to win and there was a gamble aspect to our call. We also have confidence in our penalty killers. They came through for us.

Obviously if they score, we're talking about it in a completely different way. But I'd still own that and I'd still like our players to know we're playing to win, and we'll be aggressive when we need to be.

McLellan explained that while the process of picking up points wasn't the most ideal way to go about it, they still finished the job.

The finish is what we were looking for, not necessarily the road map we had to get there. We said we'd find out a little bit about the team. We found out there's some resiliency in the group.

Detroit's goal scorers included Patrick Kane, Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat, and Erik Gustafsson.

Gustafsson's 1st-period goal was his inaugural tally with the Red Wings, while Larkin and Berggren each scored for the 2nd consecutive game.

Larkin had recently broken a 16-game goalless drought with his empty-net goal on Tuesday against the Pittsbrugh Penguins at Little Caesars Arena.
