Could one of the more exciting Detroit Red Wings prospects arrive in North America sooner than expected? It could happen!

One of the more intriguing prospects that Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman has selected since his return to the organization in April 2019 is Dmitri Buchelnikov.

The Russian forward, whom he selected with the 52nd overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, is currently playing for Hockey Club Vityaz Moscow Region in the Bobrov Division of the Kontinental Hockey League.

Right now, he has 40 points (13G, 27A) in 47 games played. But could he be arriving in North America sooner than later?

Buchelnikov can apparently void the final year of his deal in the KHL and make the jump to North America in time for 2025-26.

Missed this the other day. Apparently Buchelnikov can void the final year of his KHL deal this summer and come over to North America for 25-26.. 👀👀👀 Wings hockey ops better be full court pressing this shit, this kid has a crazy high offensive ceiling.

Not long ago, author Mikhail Skryl noted thatBuchelnikov could very well try and make the jump to North America as soon as he's able to.

Buchelnikov is not fond of throwing the puck along the boards and playing a primitive game based on the 'north-south' principle. The forward is close to combination hockey.

Buchelnikov's game is closely watched in Detroit. No one will be surprised if after the end of his contract with Vityaz, Buchelnikov rushes overseas.

Could Buchelnikov be the next great Russian Red Wings forward?
