Fans of both the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings are feeling slighted by the officials thanks to two separate incidents in tonight's game at TD Garden.
Unfortunately for the Red Wings, their beef with the officials is going unanswered, and it resulted in the game-winning goal.
A winner wasn't decided after 60 minutes after both teams traded 3rd period goals. Shortly into overtime, Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat took the puck behind his own net when he appeared to be tripped by Boston's David Pastrnak.
The puck immediately went to Pavel Zacha, who completed a give-and-go passing play with Pastrnak and beat a sprawling Ville Husso for the game winner.
Immediately, DeBrincat and Simon Edvinsson turned in disbelief towards the on-ice referee for not calling a penalty, while an exacerbated Husso smashed his stick across the crossbar in frustration.
A handful of Red Wings players wanted an explanation as to why no whistle was blown, a request that went unfulfilled.
Color commentator Ray Ferraro was incredulous, seemingly in disbelief himself that Pastrnak wasn't whistled for taking down DeBrincat.
Detroit players on the bench were visibly upset as well over the fact that they missed out on the extra point instead of going on the power play with a chance to win.
But regardless, it was the third game in a row that the Red Wings lead in a game only to fall short.
