Here's why Sidney Crosby has some Penguins fans sweating
Sidney Crosby is easily the most legendary player in the history of the Pittsburgh Penguins franchise and that says a lot considering the fact that Mario Lemieux once played for this team.
Soon, Crosby will no longer be under contract. This has caused quite a bit of anxiety around the Penguins franchise. All sorts of rumors have been pedaled about how Crosby wants to go elsewhere for one final shot at the cup. However, by all accounts, he is negotiating his deal with the Penguins.
According to Rob Rossi from The Athletic, Crosby and the Penguins have taken a break as it pertains to contract talks. However, that is not to say there hasn't been progress. Instead, Crosby and his team are actually happy with where things are. They just want to take a bit of a break. That said, with Crosby holding out on signing his contract, it is speculated that season ticket holders and other corporate partners are sweating a bit right now.
"I made a few calls to follow up, and the only real news perhaps another subjective term is that all parties (Crosby and his agent, Pat Brisson, and Penguins president of hockey operations/general manager Kyle Dubas) were comfortable enough with where the contract negotiations stood that everybody felt comfortable going about summer plans such as taking holidays and enjoying a bit of downtime," Rossi explained.
"Nobody from the Penguins' hockey side is worried about Crosby eventually putting ink to paper. This is not to suggest some folks who deal with season-ticket holders/corporate partners aren't sweating until he does."
