Cole Caufield announces jersey number change in honour of Johnny Gaudreau
Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield has announced that he will change his jersey number from 22 to 13 in honour of the late Johnny Gaudreau.
The hockey community continues to mourn Gaudreau's tragic loss, a Columbus Blue Jackets forward, and tributes have been pouring in from across the NHL.
Caufield, who admired Gaudreau growing up due to their similar playing styles, shared his decision on social media, expressing how Gaudreau had inspired him. Caufield explained that he previously wore the number 13 because of Gaudreau and will now return to that number to honour him.
Gaudreau and his brother Matthew tragically passed away after being struck by an alleged drunk driver. The thoughts of the entire hockey community remain with the Gaudreau family during this difficult time.
