The Boston Bruins made headlines in the 2022 NHL Draft by selecting goaltender Reid Dyck, known for his standout performance with the Swift Current Broncos.

Despite being one of the most promising goaltenders in his class, Dyck, who was drafted 183rd overall, never secured a contract with the Bruins.

At 6'4" and 20 years old, Dyck could be a key player for Boston, especially after the team traded away 2023 Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators this summer. With Jeremy Swayman still unsigned and their third-string goalie, Brandon Bussi, largely untested, the decision to let Dyck go is risky.

Reid Dyck has now found a new opportunity, joining the Utah Hockey Club for their training camp. The Utah Hockey Club, recently rebranded after the Arizona Coyotes' relocation to Salt Lake City under the ownership of Ryan Smith and the Smith Entertainment Group, offers Dyck a fresh start in a new market.

Meanwhile, it appears the Bruins are betting on another goaltending prospect, Michael DiPietro, instead of Dyck. Whether this gamble will pay off remains to be seen as the new season approaches.
