Sidney Crosby's new contract will begin in the 2025-26 season, following the conclusion of his current 12-year deal, which has seen him earn $8.7 million annually since the 2013-14 season. The news of the extension was first reported in July.

Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang, fellow pillars of the Pittsburgh Penguins' roster, are under contract through the 2025-26 and 2027-28 seasons, respectively.
Despite being a veteran of 19 NHL seasons, Sidney Crosby shows no signs of slowing down. He led the Pittsburgh Penguins with 94 points and played all 82 games in the 2023-24 season, scoring 42 goals-his third time surpassing 40 goals in his career and the first since 2016-17.
The Pittsburgh Penguins missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year, but Sidney Crosby still placed ninth in Hart Trophy voting for the league's most valuable player.
Drafted first overall by Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2005 NHL Draft, Sidney Crosby holds the franchise record for games played and ranks second in goals, assists, and points behind Mario Lemieux. He is just 30 assists away from surpassing Lemieux in assists, but is still 99 goals and 128 points short of becoming the franchise leader in those categories.
At 37, Sidney Crosby moved into 10th place on the NHL's all-time list in April and became only the 14th player in league history to record 1,000 career assists.
A future Hall of Famer, Sidney Crosby has led the Pittsburgh Penguins to three Stanley Cup victories (2009, 2016, 2017) and has earned two Conn Smythe Trophies as the playoff MVP. In his 180 career playoff games, he has scored 71 goals and accumulated 201 points.
Sidney Crosby has also won the Art Ross Trophy, Hart Trophy, and Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy twice each, and the Ted Lindsay Award three times. He has been the Pittsburgh Penguins' captain since 2007.
Pittsburgh Penguins has not advanced past the first round of the playoffs since 2018.
