Brad Treliving, the new GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, is being criticized for his contract decisions. Some argue he's repeating Kyle Dubas' mistakes.

Maple Leafs Hot Stove's Anthony Petrielli highlights several issues, starting with Jani Hakanpaa. Despite reports of a 2-year, $3 million deal, the contract was never finalized, possibly due to severe knee problems. Jani Hakanpaa's appearance in a Dallas Stars jersey at a charity event further fueled speculation.

Petrielli also questioned Treliving's signings of John Klingberg and Ryan Reaves. John Klingberg received over $4 million despite known injury concerns, while Reaves, who struggles with knee issues, was signed for 3 years at $1.35 million per season. These moves, especially given the Toronto Maple Leafs "win now" focus, have raised concerns about investing in players with significant health issues.
