Former Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard recently opened up about his experiences with coach Mike Babcock during their time together in Detroit.

While Howard admitted that he managed to avoid much of Babcock's wrath, he expressed surprise at the harsh treatment some of his teammates endured under the coach. Speaking on the Cam And Strick podcast, Howard revealed his shock upon learning about some of Babcock's more controversial actions, such as scratching future Hall of Famer Mike Modano during his final game in Minnesota, leaving him just shy of 1,500 career NHL games.

Howard also recalled his frustration when Babcock publicly supported another player for the Calder Trophy instead of him during his standout rookie season. Despite these incidents, Howard noted that his personal interactions with Babcock were relatively mild. However, the revelations about Babcock's conduct have left Howard questioning how much he may have missed while focusing on his game from the crease.
