TRADE: Florida Panthers place big name on trading block
Aaron Ekblad, the 1st overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft of the Florida Panthers, has a successful career with nearly 700 games, just under 350 points, a Calder Trophy, and a Stanley Cup, but could be on the trading block.
He has one year left on his contract with a $7.5 million cap hit. Despite a solid career, Ekblad's recent playoff performance was mixed, with only 6 points in 24 games and his lowest average ice time. The Toronto Maple Leafs have shown interest in Ekblad, who is also being compared to pending free agent Brandon Montour, who nearly doubled Ekblad's playoff scoring.
Should Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings give a call to Florida to see the asking price ?
