Brad Marchand could soon be on his way from the Boston Bruins, the only NHL team that he's suited up for during his National Hockey League career that began in 2010.

It would be a strange sight to see Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand wear the sweater of another NHL team.
But with a spot in the postseason all but assured for the Bruins, the hands of general manager Don Sweeney and president Cam Neely could soon be forced into a move.
Marchand is playing in the final year of his contract, and there's been reportedly no progress on a new deal that would keep him in the only NHL home he's ever known beyond this year.
During a recent appearance on TSN's First Up, NHL analyst Chris Johnston said that the Bruins are not only expected not to buy at the upcoming Trade Deadline, but also have to get realistic about their current situation.
There's no trade or external move you're making that can account for the minutes and responsibilities those guys handle.

This is not a customary position for this team. They're in transition, but I don't see them diving into a full rebuild or retool-at least not yet.

Meanwhile, Sweeney recently alluded to a potential trade of top players on the team, and that list includes Marchand.
We're going to look at all opportunities, whether it's to improve our club now or with an eye towards moving forward.

Our veteran players have proven they're good players. Is everybody having a career year? No. But that being said, they can help us and they can help other teams.
