Five teams Patrick Laine could be traded to
Patrick Laine is ready to play hockey again, however, it is likely that his days with the Columbus Blue Jackets are officially over.
Now, there is an arms race among NHL teams to acquire the sniper's services. According to Josh Wegman of The Score, there are five teams in particular that are at the top of the pack when it comes to getting Laine. Those teams may just surprise you. And no, the Detroit Red Wings are not one of them.
As Wegman explains, the five teams in question are the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Colorado Avalanche, the Las Vegas Golden Knights, the Seattle Kraken, and the Buffalo Sabres. That said, Wegman argues the Penguins are the runaway favorites right now.
"Pittsburgh also has $3.5 million in cap space and could create more room by including a depth forward such as Lars Eller ($2.45-million AAV) or Noel Acciari ($2 million) in a deal for Laine. It's the type of big swing president of hockey operations and GM Kyle Dubas needs to make if he wants to give his aging core one last chance of making a run." Do you believe Patrick Laine will be traded soon? Let us know in the poll below. Additionally, stay tuned to Red Wings Insider for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
