Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat is as disappointed as anyone over the inconsistency they've shown this year, and he is pointing toward a major issue.

The Detroit Red Wings have sunk to the near bottom of the Eastern Conference and the Atlantic Division thanks not only to frustratingly inconsistent play this year but two consecutive losses to the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens in just over 24 hours.

With the St. Louis Blues in town, who have also battled inconsistency, the Red Wings have turned their attention to their struggling power play, which has suddenly gone cold after performing at a mostly adequate level this year.

Alex DeBrincat, one of Detroit's main options with the man-advantage, believes the Red Wings have the players to make it happen.

I think we're still generating chances, they just aren't going in. When that happens, you got to change some stuff up. We got to go out there and execute and we have the players to do it.

We just got to put it in the net and try to feel good about ourselves, be a difference-maker. I think when we get two, three chances in a game, we got to put one in the net and really help the team out.

As far as what needs to happen in order to gain a badly-needed pair of points, DeBrincat had the solution.

We got to empty the tank tonight. Leave it all out there and get the two points.

But through the 1st 20 minutes of play, the Blues have the 1-0 lead and have outshot the Red Wings 10-4.
