The good news for the Detroit Red Wings is that defenseman Simon Edvinsson, who was injured in last night's win over the Philadelphia Flyers and missed their subsequent back-to-back losses against the Montreal Canadiens, returned to the ice for this morning's skate.
The bad news is that he won't be able to play in tonight's game at Little Caesars Arena against the visiting St. Louis Blues (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
And the bad news keeps on coming. In addition to Edvinsson, defenseman Ben Chiarot will also be unable to play; he was hurt during Saturday night's embarrassing 5-1 loss to the Canadiens at Bell Centre and didn't play in the 3rd period.
Fans were disheartened with the news, responding to the Red Wings' post on X.
The Red Wings will have to make do without both Edvinsson and Chiarot, the later of whom played a season-high 29:14 in Wednesday's win over the Flyers after Edvinsson's departure.
Detroit was forced to re-call William Lagesson from the Grand Rapids Griffins; he played in 16:18 in Saturday's loss in Montreal and was -2.
