Derek Lalonde announces major setback for shorthanded Detroit Red Wings vs. Blues
The Detroit Red Wings are already shorthanded tonight for their game against the visiting Blues, and even more bad news was announced after the morning skate.
The good news for the Detroit Red Wings is that defenseman Simon Edvinsson, who was injured in last night's win over the Philadelphia Flyers and missed their subsequent back-to-back losses against the Montreal Canadiens, returned to the ice for this morning's skate.
The bad news is that he won't be able to play in tonight's game at Little Caesars Arena against the visiting St. Louis Blues (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
And the bad news keeps on coming. In addition to Edvinsson, defenseman Ben Chiarot will also be unable to play; he was hurt during Saturday night's embarrassing 5-1 loss to the Canadiens at Bell Centre and didn't play in the 3rd period.

The Red Wings will have to make do without both Edvinsson and Chiarot, the later of whom played a season-high 29:14 in Wednesday's win over the Flyers after Edvinsson's departure.
