The Americans picked up a major 3-1 win over Canada in upset fashion last night, silencing the roaring crowd at Bell Centre, home of the Montreal Canadiens.
American captain Auston Matthews, who is used to getting booed in Bell Centre as one of the best players on the divisional foe Toronto Maple Leafs, has yet to score in the 4 Nations Faceoff.
However, Matthews knows the meaning of the win and also had words for the fans who made the event nothing short of a rowdy atmosphere.
It means a lot, but, I mean, we haven't done anything yet. Two games in, obviously two big wins, but, you know, we've got a lot of work to do. We've got another big game here coming Monday against Sweden, and, you know, we've got to regroup."
It was pretty electric. I mean, it was probably one of the best atmospheres I've been a part of. So, you know, a lot of fun. It feels a lot better when you come out with the win, but, just from the start, the drop of the puck, I mean, it was electric in here.
"Kudos to both sides, squaring off like that, but just the atmosphere and everything tonight was pretty incredible. Big win for us.

Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin scored the game winning goal
Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, who had played only 11 minutes on the 4th line during the 6-1 win over Finland, was promoted to the 3rd line vs. Canada and made the most of it.
He scored the game winner in the 2nd period, sniping a shot blocker side on goalie Jordan Binnington after breaking in on a 2-on-1 rush.
