This edition of THN.com's series examines three key issues facing the Detroit Red Wings now and during the next NHL season.

Contract Delays for RFAs Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider:
The Red Wings are still negotiating extensions for Raymond and Seider, two vital players for the team's future. With $17.6 million in cap space, GM Steve Yzerman has room to sign both. However, if the negotiations drag into the season, it could disrupt their performance and impact the team.
Consistency and Playoff Push:
The Red Wings missed the playoffs by just one point last season, largely due to inconsistency. Detroit must improve its regular-season performance in the tough Atlantic Division to avoid a ninth consecutive playoff miss.
Goaltending Decisions:
Detroit Red Wings brought Cam Talbot to compete with Ville Husso and Alex Lyon. Cam Talbot's strong performance last season suggests he could earn the starting role, but with a three-headed goaltending situation, the team needs clarity in the net to boost their playoff chances.
These issues are critical as the Red Wings aim to break their playoff drought and reestablish themselves as a competitive force in the NHL.
