The Detroit Red Wings' recent history with goaltender drafts has been less than stellar. Seven drafted between 2012 and 2018 failed to make it to the NHL.

Petr Mrazek, drafted in 2010, remains the last successful Detroit Red Wings goaltender draft pick to reach the NHL.
However, there's renewed hope with top prospects Sebastian Cossa and Trey Augustine in the pipeline. The Detroit Red Wings have also bolstered their goaltending depth with Jan Bednar (2020) and Carter Gylander (2019), who have signed contracts to play in the AHL.
Rudy Guimond, a 2023 sixth-round pick, is set to join Yale for the 2025-26 season. Additionally, Landon Miller, drafted in the fourth round (126th overall) this year, adds to the growing pool of prospects. Landon Miller, who stands 6-5 and weighs 193 pounds, had a solid debut season in the OHL, though his .889 save percentage was underwhelming. He is noted for his size, smart play, and athleticism and has been climbing the rankings, moving from 17th to 6th among North American goaltender prospects.
GM Steve Yzerman emphasizes the importance of having a strong pool of goalie prospects while avoiding a logjam. Landon Miller, with his growth and development, represents a promising part of the Detroit Red Wings' future in net.
