Detroit Red Wings forward J.T. Compher was mired in an abysmal scoring slump, having not scored since Detroit's 3-2 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers on October 27.
That's a span of 21 games for those of you counting at home.
But that streak was broken tonight at Little Caesars Arena against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Compher re-directed a pass from Dylan Larkin past goaltender Samuel Ersson while the Red Wings were on the man-advantage; the goal not only tied the game at 1-1 but also lifted a huge weight off Compher's shoulders.
Compher said he felt that his game was moving in a positive direction despite his scoring slump, but that it definitely felt good to see the puck go in the net.
With the goal, Compher now has 16 points (4G, 12A) this year, his 2nd with Detroit.
The Red Wings ultimately won the game, 6-4 and avenged last week's 4-1 loss to the Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.
Patrick Kane broke a 4-4 stalemate in the 3rd period by sniping a shot past Ersson's blocker, his 4th goal of the year.
