Detroit Red Wings make decision on starting goaltender for pivotal divisional clash vs. Sabres
The Detroit Red Wings have to stop the bleeding by picking up two points tonight against the hapless Sabres, and they've announced their starting goaltender.
With a pair of crucial points on the line, the Detroit Red Wings have no choice but to stop the bleeding tonight against the Buffalo Sabres (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
And minutes ago, head coach Derek Lalonde announced who will start in net.
Ville Husso makes his 5th straight start, meaning that Sebastian Cossa will have to wait a bit longer for his 1st career NHL game.
Per Jonathan Mills of DetroitRedWings.com:
Goalie Ville Husso will make his fourth straight start for the @DetroitRedWings when they face the #Sabres on Monday night, per head coach Derek Lalonde.
Husso has allowed three goals or fewer in each of his last three starts. #LGRW
Sebastian Cossa will have to wait for his 1st NHL start with the Red Wings
Cossa was re-called by the Red Wings thanks to the injuries to both Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon, both of whom remain unavailable.
In the meantime, Husso has played well for the Red Wings, with a save percentage above the .920 mark.
Unfortunately, he's yet to win a game with Detroit this year thanks mostly to the lack of offensive support from his teammates.
Cossa has gone 9-4-1 with Grand Rapids this year and has impressive .925 save percentage.
One of Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman's most important draft selections, the organization has visions of Cossa as their future starter.
