His previous success, particularly during the 2018-19 season with the Chicago Blackhawks, where he posted 60 points, is a glimpse of what he's capable of when given sufficient ice time. While it might be a stretch to expect a return to those numbers, Erik Gustafsson could quickly put up around 40 points, especially with the additional opportunities he'll have on the Detroit Red Wings' power play unit.

This acquisition, combined with the signing of players like Alex DeBrincat, makes Erik Gustafsson one of the Detroit Red Wings' potential breakout players for the season, adding much-needed offensive depth to the team's defensive corps.
