The hockey world is grieving the tragic loss of Johnny Gaudreau, a star forward for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and his brother Matthew.

The brothers were struck by a vehicle driven by Sean Higgins, who has been charged with two counts of death by automobile. Reports indicate Higgins was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred on County Road 551 in Oldmans Township, N.J. The incident took place just before the Gaudreau brothers' sister's wedding.
Dylan Larkin, a close friend of Johnny Gaudreau, has expressed deep sorrow. The two players, who first teamed up in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and later at multiple World Championships, shared a strong bond.
The Detroit Red Wings, with ten American-born players on their roster, issued a heartfelt statement, mourning the loss of a player who had a significant impact both on and off the ice. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman also paid tribute, highlighting Gaudreau's infectious spirit and contributions to the game.
Johnny Gaudreau leaves behind his wife Meredith, children Noa and Johnny, and his parents Guy and Jane, as well as his sisters Kristen and Katie. The Grand Rapids Griffins also shared their condolences, honoring Johnny Gaudreau's memory.
