Detroit Red Wings still don't know who will start vs. Flyers after sending Sebastian Cossa to AHL
The Detroit Red Wings sent goaltender Sebastian Cossa back to the AHL, but there remains a cloudy picture as to who will start tonight against the Flyers.
After Monday night's dramatic comeback victory over the divisional foe Buffalo Sabres, goaltender Sebastian Cossa had made NHL history in addition to picking up his 1st win.
However, he's been sent back to the AHL due to veteran Cam Talbot's impending return. But Talbot hasn't been 100% declared the starter for tonight's game against the Flyers (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
Head coach Derek Lalonde said he hopes that it will be Talbot, and that he'll be a game-time decision.
We're going to wait on the goaltending. We hope to have Cam, but we want to get through warmups. So both goalies (also Ville Husso) will be ready. I know it's unique but both goalies will get through warmups and then we'll make a decision after warmups.
We'll get through warmups and if [Talbot] is good, he'll be the guy in net. Red Wings goalie Cam Talbot has been out for nearly 2 weeks
The Red Wings lost Talbot on December 1 against the Vancouver Canucks at Little Caesars Arena.
Shortly before Alex DeBrincat's game-tying goal in the 2nd period, Talbot suffered what was declared a lower-body injury and removed himself from the game; he was replaced by Ville Husso, who has started every game for Detroit since.
But after he surrendered three goals on just seven Sabres shots on Monday, he was replaced by Cossa for the start of the 2nd period.
The Red Wings were already without Alex Lyon, who tweaked something in practice last month.
