The Detroit Red Wings have a surplus of goaltenders in their organization and are being urged to consider moving on from one of them to clear up a log jam.

Detroit Red Wings fans fans like to point toward the future when it comes to the long-term success of the organization, especially with the surplus of prospects that general manager Steve Yzerman has built up since his return to Detroit in 2019.

Right now, the Red Wings happen to feature a surplus of goaltending. They're set at the starter's position for now, with veteran Cam Talbot and the reliable Alex Lyon taking charge of things.

Meanwhile, Ville Husso is playing with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins along with highly-regarded prospect Sebastian Cossa, who is expected to be Detroit's starter of the future at some point.

Additionally, the Red Wings also have veteran Jack Campbell within the organization.

Could the Red Wings decide to part ways with one of their figures between the pipes at some point to help clear up the logjam of bodies?

According to Caleb Kerney of The Hockey News, the the Red Wings must trade one of Campbell or Husso.

One of Husso or Campbell must be traded.

Husso is probably the easiest of the two to visit the trade block. Campbell fell out of favor with NHL GMs last season and is still rebuilding his game to deliver consistent results.

Campbell's contract is more digestible: He earned $775,000 this season. Husso, on the other hand, is in the last year of a three-year $4.75 million deal.

Husso hasn't quite found his game since being traded to the Red Wings from the St. Louis Blues. However, if a team is experiencing goaltending issues or injuries, he could be a stop-gap fix for the right team.
