The Detroit Red Wings began their 4-game road trip trip with a bang, beating the Florida Panthers 5-2 in the building they lifted the Stanley Cup in last year.
But after that, the Red Wings picked up just one of a possible six points up for grabs, which included 5-1 and 4-1 losses to the Tampa Bay Lightning and Dallas Stars before losing 2-1 in OT to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
During the loss to the Stars, forward Patrick Kane departed late in the 1st period for an undisclosed injury, but was later able to play the rest of the way.
Unfortunately, he will not be in the lineup for tonight's game against the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens at Little Caesars Arena (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
According to coach Todd McLellan, Kane is considered day to day.
Since the Red Wings made the coaching switch from Derek Lalonde to Todd McLellan, Kane's stats began to skyrocket.
In fact, he was one of the NHL's leading point producers from late December until the start of Detroit's road trip. In 10 games so far in January, he has 13 points (4G, 9A).
He agreed to return to the Red Wings over the summer with a 1-year contract, though he rarely resembled the near point-per-game player that he was last year with the club.
After the termination of Derek Lalonde and subsequent hiring of McLellan, Kane's production immediately picked up.
