Elmer Soderblom reveals phone call with Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman

The Red Wings have re-called towering forward Elmer Soderblom from the Grand Rapids Griffins, and he'll be getting in his 1st NHL action since 2022-23.
The Detroit Red Wings aim to close out their 4-game road trip on a high note when they play the Philadelphia Flyers (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
To help combat the Flyers' physical brand of play, general manager Steve Yzerman made the call to towering forward Elmer Soderblom; he'll be in the lineup for the 1st time since 2022-23.
Understandably, Soderblom is excited for the opportunity and described the phone call that he had with Yzerman.

Soderblom, who scored the 1st goal of the year for the Red Wings in their home opener in 2022 against the Montreal Canadiens, had 8 points (5G, 3A) in 21 games before being sent back to the Griffins.
He's remained in the AHL since then, and has 17 points (5G, 12A) in 38 games this year. But as he's picked up his game, the points have started flowing more freely.
The skating, being more physical and shooting more pucks. Finishing more checks and being tougher to play against. That's my game right now. I just want to show my game and play the way I've been playing and show I can play at this level.

Meanwhile, he admitted that it was indeed frustrating he hasn't been able to play at the NHL level since then, but that he's glad to be back.
