Former Detroit Red Wings goaltender Dominik Hasek, who has been very vocal on international politics in recent years, has blasted the IIHF for their explanation on why Russia won't participate in the 2025 World Championship.

The IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) has recently ruled that both Russia and Belarus will be ineligible to participate in the 2025 World Championship later this year.

Former Detroit Red Wings goaltender Dominik Hasek, who has been an outspoken critic of Russia and any Russian involvement in the NHL since the invasion of Ukraine, has accused the IIHF of being untruthful when describing their reasoning for the move.

I am glad that international hockey will remain without Russians and Belarusians next season because it will prevent the Russian war from being advertised in international competitions and will save many lives. However, the official reason for this decision (we cannot guarantee safety) is a complete lie (which the officials will then tell you in private). They say this so that Russia cannot sue them. I will never approve of such behavior toward the world hockey public. People are not stupid, and a false explanation fundamentally reduces the effect of the decision.

There is only one reason why Russians are not allowed to compete. If Russian hockey players were allowed to participate, the competition would become a huge advertisement for the Russian war, and many people would die because of it. And that is something we cannot allow!

Hasek has been openly critical that the National Hockey League continues to allow Russian players like Alex Ovechkin to play in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began in late 2021.

The Hall of Fame goaltender has even even called for the NHL to ban any Russian player's involvement in the League.

After the start of the Russian imperialist war, the NHL became an advertisement for this war, because Russian citizens continued to perform and play in it!. Every citizen, unless he is a dissident, is an advertisement for his country's actions.
