Since the 2022-23 NHL season, Captain Dylan Larkin has headlined the Detroit Red Wings leadership group, with alternate captains Ben Chiarot, Andrew Copp, and David Perron.

However, with Perron signing a two-year contract with the Ottawa Senators, the Red Wings must select a new alternate captain for the 2024-25 season.
One strong candidate is Patrick Kane, who joined the Red Wings in 2023 and impressed with 47 points in 50 games. Kane, a seasoned leader with three Stanley Cup championships, wants to contribute to the team's leadership.
Moritz Seider, the team's top defender and a former Calder Trophy winner, also stands out. As one of Steve Yzerman's key draft picks, Seider represents the team's future core.
Michael Rasmussen, the second-longest tenured player on the team, has worn the 'A' before and embodies the hard-working spirit the Red Wings value.
Christian Fischer, a gritty forward who seamlessly integrated into the team, brings heart and soul to the lineup and could be a valuable leader.
Finally, Lucas Raymond, the young star who stepped up significantly last season, is already a leader for Team Sweden and might soon wear an 'A' for the Red Wings.
