Former Detroit Red Wings forward Pius Suter, now with the Vancouver Canucks, appeared to take a subtle jab at his former team.
While speaking why he enjoys playing with the Vancouver Canucks, Suter singled out head coach Rick Tocchet as a major reason why, noting his straightforward nature.
When asked what else appeals to him about playing with Vancouver, he had the following response:
Was that a subtle dig at the Red Wings, for whom he played a pair of years that didn't yield a postseason appearance either time?
He enjoyed Sunday afternoon's game against the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena, beating former teammate Ville Husso on a 2-on-1 rush down the left wing and scoring his 9th goal
The Canucks won the game 5-4 in overtime on the back of a hat trick from Jake DeBrusk, two goals of which came on the power play.
With Vancouver, Suter helped the Canucks push the Edmonton Oilers to the brink last year, though the Oilers ended the Cnaucks' season by defeating them in Game 7 of the second round.
He began his career with the Chicago Blackhawks, and even scored his first NHL goal as well as his 1st career hat trick in a 2021 game against the Red Wings.
Suter has signed subsequent two-year deals with the Red Wings, and then the Canucks.
