Former Wing gets a win in his first NHL playoff start
Former Wings goaltender Calvin Pickard got his first career NHL playoff start last night for the Oilers against the Canucks.
Pickard was headed into a tough situation where the Oilers desperately needed a win after going down 2-1 in the series in game 3.
The 32 year old goaltender ended up having a great game for the Oilers as he stopped 19 of 21 shots he faced.
Pickard spent 3 seasons with the Red Wings organization, during which he alternated between the Red Wings and their AHL affiliates, the Griffins, located in Grand Rapids.
