3 Draft prospects the Red Wings could select at No.15
Steve Yzerman will have a lot of decisions to make this upcoming draft. Detroit will be selected at No.15 this year which is not the best spot considering the pool of the talent is limited. Regardless, the Wings have a reputation of making good choices when it comes to drafting late, and it has paid off in the past for them. Here are three names who might be available and are also forwards that the Red Wings actually might need.
Cole Eiserman would be a great choice. A couple of weeks ago, he broke the U.S. National Team Development Program record for goals in a season. He's a natural scorer and would help the Wings automatically. His off-puck play is something to work on, but he's young and could get there with the right structure around him.
Then there's Michael Brandsegg-Nygard. He's a physical, well-rounded winger who has competed at the highest level, plays defense, and would be very useful on power plays. His defensive mindset would be a plus for the team. If available midway through the draft, selecting a good role player could be a strategy Yzerman might choose.
Finally, Michael Hage. The most intriguing pick of the three. He is making a name for himself in the USHL with his playmaking abilities and great IQ. The Wings could select someone who makes the right decisions offensively. However, he's currently projected in the 20s for the drafting order, and his defensive abilities aren't as developed as the other two players previously mentioned. This could be a risk, but it will depend on who is available at the time as well.
