For the third straight game, the Detroit Red Wings failed to seal the deal after having the lead on two separate occasions in the last three consecutive games.
Even more exacerbating is the fact that it's now the second straight game they've lost after having the lead in the 3rd period.
The Red Wings had to settle for just one point last night against the Boston Bruins, who walked away with a 3-2 overtime win; albeit in controversial fashion.
Pavel Zacha's goal secured the additional point for the Bruins; he completed a give-and-go in front of goaltender Ville Husso with teammate David Pastrnak, who had just taken down Alex DeBrincat at the side of the Detroit net.
Derek Lalonde's frustration was obvious, as his disappointment mainly lies in the fact that their momentum was halted by once again getting into penalty trouble.
Lucas Raymond had scored his second goal of the game to give Detroit the 2-1 advantage in the third, but a careless penalty from Ben Chiarot resulted in the Bruins tying the game just moments after the subsequent face-off.
Detroit's penalty killing remains a top source of concern, not because it's ranked 32nd overall in the NHL, but would go down as the worst penalty killing rate in NHL history if the season ended today.
