The Detroit Red Wings' power play was the best in the NHL coming into Saturday's game against the Lightning, but it sputtered as part of a 5-1 loss.
The Detroit Red Wings were unable to repeat the success they enjoyed against the divisional foe Florida Panthers earlier in the week.
They lost 5-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night, meaning they've now lost in regulation in 2-of-3 games. Their previous most recent loss was to the lowly San Jose Sharks in Detroit.
The Lightning took a 4-0 lead over the Red Wings before Lucas Raymond responded on the power play.
Unfortunately, the Red Wings missed a pair of chances in the 1st period to convert with the man advantage, something that Raymond acknowledged while also looking ahead.
We didn't reach our standard by any means. It's on us. We have to come in prepared every game. The good thing is we have a new chance tomorrow.
Raymond continued:
We didn't take care of the puck well enough, didn't break out well enough and didn't do a lot of stuff. Against a good team like that, they'll punish you.
