Major update on the future of Red Wings prospect Axel Sandin-Pellikka
The Detroit Red Wings are rightfully excited about the future of Axel Sandin-Pellikka, and he's confirmed what his future plans are - and fans will be happy to hear.
The Detroit Red Wings are understandably excited over the potential of top prospect defenseman Axel Sandin-Pellikka, who had himself another incredible tournament at the recently-completed World Junior Championships.
And it won't be long before fans in North America start seeing him on a more regular basis.
According to a recent report, Sandin-Pellikka's agent has confirmed that he'll be leaving Sweden after the current season.
His agent said the Red Wings want a chance to see Sandin-Pellikka develop more in North America next year:
(Translated from Swedish)
That will not happen. It's always a struggle when we agents try to convince the clubs over there that it would be wise to give players another year in Sweden because they usually want to develop the guys in their environment. It was the same with him and they (Detroit) will not agree to him doing another year here at home, says Elefalk to the newspaper.
Expect to see Sandin-Pellikka at 2025 Red Wings Training Camp with a chance to make the roster!
Axel Sandin-Pellikka was declared the top defenseman at the World Junior Championships
Sandin-Pellikka was named the top defenseman at the recently completed World Junior Championships, which resulted in future Red Wings teammate Trey Augustine leading the United States to a 2nd consecutive gold medal win.
In 7 games played, Sandin-Pellikka had 10 points (4G, 6A) and said the overall experience was "awesome".
An awesome tournament. I've known pretty much all the guys there since U-17 years and the national team, so having one last tournament with all the guys was awesome. It's just the small margins we want to be on our side, but it was unfortunate we didn't get a medal.
