The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Winnipeg Jets 5-4 on Saturday, but they were unable to depart Manitoba at their scheduled time thanks to mechanical issues.

After the Detroit Red Wings earned their 4th straight victory on Saturday night by defeating the Winnipeg Jets 4-2, their departure from Manitoba back home to the Motor City was delayed.

As coach Todd McLellan explained, the team plane was experiencing a mechanical issue that delayed their anticipated arrival time back home from 1 AM to 3:30 PM on Sunday.

Things like that happen. You control the things you can control and react to the other. The group was good.

It was a bit of a test today because they spent their scheduled day off in Winnipeg; it wasn't ideal, so how are they going to react in practice? They reacted well.

In the meantime, the Red Wings now have their attention on tomorrow's game at Little Caesars Arena against the divisional foe Ottawa Senators (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).

They came and worked hard. We tried to work on a few concepts and they put them into play, gave us their time, gave us their best. Hopefully that translates into the game tomorrow.

"Because we had to stay in Winnipeg a few extra hours long doesn't affect anything we did today or tomorrow or moving forward.

The Red Wings earned their 4th consecutive win on Saturday

A pair of goals from captain Dylan Larkin along with goals from Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond propelled the Red Wings to a 4-2 win over the Jets on Saturday night.

It was the 4th straight win they've enjoyed since Todd McLellan took over for the terminated Derek Lalonde on December 26.
