As the Detroit Red Wings continue struggling to put together consistent efforts, could they be on the verge of a major trade to give their team a much-needed jolt?

The Detroit Red Wings have suffered three consecutive losses in which they've had the lead, but weren't able to protect it.

In fact, their last two games have resulted in blown third period leads, which coach Derek Lalonde was visibly frustrated by.

Even more frustrating is the fact that there are several players on the roster who are not performing the way they were expected to when signed by GM Steve Yzerman.

Could he be looking to shake things up with a trade?

After revealing that former Red Wings video coach Jay Woodcroft is allegedly in Detroit's radar if they made a coaching change, he indicated that Yzerman is exploring a potential trade to give the lineup a jolt.

The plan hasn't gone Stevie's way in Detroit. So, he is looking to make some changes, talking to other people around the League, he is exploring a little bit.

The problem with them is they've got a lot of guys contract. Outside of Jeff Petry, and I guess Patrick Kane that are on expiring contracts, everyone else they could potentially move or would need to move free up some additional dollars are under contract.

It's gonna take some creativity from Detroit's side to make some kind of impact moves. The type of moves we're hearing in talking to people around the League is that they would like to make something of a hockey type trade, talent for talent swap.

They're not moving Seider, they're not moving Raymond. They're going to have to get creative.

It has not gone the way they've anticipated, but I am curious to see how Detroit manifests its roster moving forward, because it certainly sounds like they'd like to make some adjustments to it.

With players like J.T. Compher (3G, 6A in 24 games) and Andrew Copp (2 points in his last 13 games) woefully underperforming, would Yzerman be able to work his magic on the trade market and convince another party to take one of them off his hands in exchange for talent?
