The New York Rangers are in complete disarray right now, having lost 11 of their last 14 games; they've also traded captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks, while shipping former No. 2 overall pick Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken.
Embattled head coach Peter Laviolette has been rumored to be on the chopping block by GM Chris Drury, who has also been feeling considerable heat.
If Rangers owner James Dolan were to make a dramatic change, there's one figure being floated as a potential replacement that would be nothing short of must-see TV.
According to former NHL forward and current analyst Paul Bissonnette, Sean Avery was reportedly set to meet with Dolan.
Avery actually got his start in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings the on the 2001-02 eventual Stanley Cup-winning team that featured 10 future Hall of Fame players.
He was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 2003 as part of the deal to acquire defenseman Mathieu Schneider, and later played two tenures with the Rangers and quickly developed a reputation for being one of the most disliked players in hockey by his opponents.
Meanwhile, Drury was a member of the rival Avalanche for several years, and later played for the Flames, Sabres and Rangers before retiring in 2011.
