Detroit Red Wings goalie prospect Trey Augustine had an impressive year, highlighted by his pivotal role as a freshman in Michigan State University's first-ever Big Ten title.

Drafted 41st overall in 2023, Trey Augustine quickly made a name for himself as the youngest starting goalie in NCAA Division 1 hockey during the 2023-24 season. He posted a 23-9-2 record, a 2.96 goals-against average, and a .918 save percentage, showcasing his calm yet fiercely competitive nature.

Trey Augustine's year also included winning gold with Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship and gaining valuable experience at the IIHF World Championship in Czechia. Detroit Red Wings Assistant Director of Player Development Dan Cleary noted that his poise and maturity set him apart, along with the mentorship he received from fellow Detroit Red Wings goalie Alex Lyon.

Looking ahead, Trey Augustine aims to build on these experiences as he returns to Michigan State for his sophomore season, with his sights set on an NHL future. His dedication and mature approach continue to impress, marking him as a promising talent for the Detroit Red Wings' future.
