Despite allowing five goals against the San Jose Sharks, Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan had a different take on goaltender Ville Husso.

On Tuesday night, the Detroit Red Wings saw their winning streak end at 7-straight games, which was the team's longest winning streak since 2012.

They were defeated at Little Caesars Arena, 6-3 by the San Jose Sharks; it was San Jose's 2nd win over the Red Wings this year, capping a season sweep that began with a 5-4 OT win in late November.

The Red Wings decided to start goaltender Ville Husso, his 1st start in exactly a month's time. However, he allowed five goals - including at least a pair of very stoppable shots.

But coach Todd McLellan, who succeeded Derek Lalonde on December 26, didn't lay the blame at Husso's feet for the loss.

I would say he probably has to find a way to make one of those saves. I don't know which one, and you asked me the question, but if you think or anybody thinks that game was on the goaltending, it sure wasn't.

Husso was called into action thanks to the injury to Alex Lyon; right now, there isn't a definitive timeline on his potential return to game play.

Playing in the final year of his contract, Husso has split his time this year between the Red Wings and the Grand Rapids Griffins; with Detroit, he has a record of 1-5-2.

His win on December 14 against the divisional foe Toronto Maple Leafs was his 1st win in a calendar year.
