Red Wings coach Todd McLellan points to specific area of team behind inning streak
The Detroit Red Wings have now won 6-straight games, and coach Todd McLellan is pointing toward a key factor behind their winning ways.
The Detroit Red Wings have now won 6-straight games, having beaten the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 in overtime last night at Rogers Arena.
Alex DeBrincat took a perfect feed from teammate Lucas Raymond, who had fooled Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen into wandering well outside of his create. By the time Raymond passed back to DeBrincat, it was too late.
Meanwhile, the Red Wings have been gettintg more strong play out of their younger players like Elmer Soderblom, Jonatan Berggren, Marco Kasper and Albert Johansson.
Red Wings coach Todd McLellan points toward the fact that their younger players have resulted in the older players feeling more invigorated.
The youth has invigorated the older players, I think, and the older players have embraced the youth. That doesn't always happen on teams. It can be really divided sometimes, but if that youthful group continues to provide what they've had it keeps the older ones honest. It's a real good mix right now.
Additionally, McLellan praised the performance of Alex Lyon, noting that the victory was part of a full-team effort.
Three games in four nights on the road, that doesn't get done without real good goaltending. He made some outstanding saves. I thought the players in front of him played fairly well though. For me it was a team effort, but without Alex, if he has an off night, you probably don't come away with points.
The Red Wings will conclude their road trip tomorrow when they play the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena.
