The Detroit Red Wings return to the ice tomorrow afternoon at Little Caesars Arena to face the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning (1:00 PM, ABC, ESPN+, 97.1 The Ticket).
The team gathered at Little Caesars Arena this morning for practice, and a key lineup change was previewed for tomorrow's game, which carries key implications in the standings considering how close both the Red Wings and Lightning are to one another.
Goaltender Alex Lyon will make a return to the crease for Detroit, who will also be looking for their first 8-game winning streak since their most recent Stanley Cup-winning year of 2008.
Ironically, that was Todd McLellan's last year with the franchise as an assistant coach under Mike Babcock before he departed to accept the head coaching role with the San Jose Sharks.
Lyon was strong for the Red Wings during their road trip, which included a 45-save performance in their 3-2 shootout victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
Talbot also picked up victories for the Red Wing during the road trip, but wasn't quite as sharp during their 5-4 shootout win over the Kraken. Still, Talbot helped the Red Wings win their 7-straight and also picked up the victory in his start against the Flames.
Lyon is playing in the last year of his current contract with the Red Wings, and whether or not GM Steve Yzerman elects to bring him back or give Sebastian Cossa a chance at a full-time NHL job next year remains to be seen.
