Frustrated Detroit Red Wings fans are demanding that the NHL take action against Tampa's Nikita Kucherov after his dirty trip on Michael Rasmussen last night.

The Detroit Red Wings beat the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 last night at Little Caesars Arena, meaning they've now picked up wins in 4 of 5 games against them dating back to last year.

But one dangerous play took place near the end of regulation that had fans up in arms.

Detroit's Michael Rasmussen had a clear path to score into the empty net, but was blatantly tripped by Nikita Kucherov as he was shoveling the puck over the goal line.

Rasmussen crashed into the net, and while he immediately got back up on his skates, replays showed that he needed assistance from the team training staff to make it down the tunnel toward the locker room.

Understandably upset, Red Wings fans demanded the NHL take action against Kucherov for his dirty trip on Rasmussen that could have resulted in a serious injury.

Bro pulled his stick back to the feet. Intentional. Just like McDavid, last seconds, intent to injure, give him 3 games too

Has to be a suspension, blatant attempt to injure

Wow I didn't even realize how intentional that was. Kucherov should be receiving 2 games at a minimum

Sign McCarty to a one game contract and have him beat the absolute brakes off that clown.

That's a suspendable play. Should be reviewed by the league.

Someone needs to take a run at Kucherov next time.
