Detroit Red Wings goaltending prospect Trey Augustine is now the best goalie in American history in the World Junior Championships after winning gold - again!

The Detroit Red Wings are banking on big things from goaltender Trey Augustine, a Michigan native who attends school at Michigan State University.

He's now officially the winningest goaltender in American history in the World Junior championships, having once again helped Team USA win a gold medal; they've now won 2 years in a row.

The Red Wings picked Augustine with the 41st pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. In addition to his success in the World Junior Championships, he's also posted strong numbers for the Spartans this year.

With the Spartans, he's 11-2-1 with a 1.98 GAA and a .930 SV% so far.

In addition to Augustine, Red Wings prospect Max Plante (taken 47th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft) also helped the United States to gold medal glory.
