Fights breaking out in the stands at professional sporting events isn't anything new, and an incident that took place last night at Little Caesars Arena has gone viral.
While the Detroit Red Wings were taking on the Philadelphia Flyers, a scuffle broke out between fans that resulted in at least one of them losing his shirt, and a security guard pinning the other against the glass.
Calm seemed to take over, at least temporarily.
But soon, the shirtless fan threw down one of the security guards, who tumbled below into a row of seats. The fan attempted to make a break for it, but was eventually subdued.
The entire incident was captured on video and eventually released on social media.
Afterward, the Red Wings admitted that the incident caught their attention. In fact, coach Derek Lalonde said he'd never seen something like that before, and that both teams were watching the incident unfold.
The Red Wings avenged their 4-1 loss to the Flyers last week, coming out on top by a 6-4 final score thanks to a 3rd period tie-breaker from Patrick Kane.
J.T. Compher, Alex DeBrincat, Michael Rasmussen, Joe Veleno, and Lucas Raymond (empty net) all scored for the Red Wings; Alex Lyon earned the win in his 1st game since November 25.
