Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 212 pounds, Charlie Forslund's combination of size, skating, and shooting ability has drawn the attention of the Detroit Red Wings' scouting staff. After an impressive 2023-24 season with Falu IF in Sweden's third division, where he tallied 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists) in 19 games and 16 points (13 goals, 3 assists) with Falu IF's U-20 team, Forslund is set to take the next step in his development.
This season, Charlie Forslund will compete for Mora IK's U-20 team in Sweden's top junior league, a challenge that will provide him with valuable experience against tougher competition. His power-play skills and physical presence in front of the net were standout aspects of his game last year, and he aims to build on those strengths.
Forslund, who participated in his first Detroit Red Wings Development Camp this summer, is getting accustomed to the North American style of play and believes it will further enhance his game. The Detroit Red Wings' staff, including Assistant GM Kris Draper, believe Charlie Forslund has significant potential to grow into a valuable asset for the team.
